Science In Sport-Trek Rider Wilks Wins Colne Grand
Prix
In Magnificent Style
In wet and windy conditions
Science In Sport – Trek rider Ian Wilkinson
won in spectacular fashion the latest round of the
National Circuit Series at Colne. This is one of the
highest profile cycling events in Lancashire so to
gain the victory was a dream come true for Wilks and
the team.

Scienceinsport-Trek Riders Bibby, Fletcher & Creber
Selected for World MTB Championships
The Great Britain Team has
announced its line-up for the 2008 World Mountain Bike
Championships, at Val di Sole in Italy between the 15th
- 22nd June and included in the team are Scienceinsport-Trek
Under 23 riders Ian Bibby, David Fletcher and Ross Creber.

3 Podiums in One Week for Wilkinson
Following on from his
recent victory in the Marathon National Champs and
not having fully recovered from his the MTB World
Cup race at Fort William on the 7th June, Ian Wilkinson
took to the start line in the latest round of the
National Road Circuit Series at Brighouse on Tuesday

British National Marathon Championships
The first of June saw the
British National Marathon Championships take place at
Margam Park, South Wales. Anyone who has visited the
Park near Port Talbot will know that it is a hilly course
and the day’s racing would find a deserving Champion.
The race started out as expected
with the usual suspects gathering in a bunch at the
head of the field. These included 2007 champion James
Ouchterlony, former Champion Nick Craig, Paul Oldham
of Hope Factory Racing and the Science in Sport - Trek
duo of Ian Wilkinson and Dave Collins amongst others.

SiS - Trek Riders Dominate Round 1 of the British
NPS XC MTB Series
The weekend of the 12th
& 13th April saw the SiS-Trek riders attend Round
1 of the British National Points MTB Series at Thetford
Forest. Based on the previous weekends results where
Bibby, Fletcher & Creber came 1st, 3rd and 6th
respectively whilst riding for Great Britain at the
Irish National MTB Series International Race UCI Cl
2, the teams expectations where high.

Bibby Wins Polka Dot Jersey & Under 23 Title &
Wilks Fights With Sickness At Girvan 2008 Stage Race
The Easter bank Holiday weekend
saw the team have their first outing with a full squad
of eight riders at the 2nd round of the Premier Calendar
Series, the Girvan 3 day stage race. This was one of
the events that the team had targeted and, based on
Wilks form at round 1, they knew that they had an excellent
chance of defending the title that he won in 2007.

Team Scienceinsport-Trek Start Their 2008 Campaign
with Two Stage Wins At The Bikeline 2 Day, the opening
Premier Calendar event
This
past weekend the team sent a squad of four riders
to the first round of the British Cycling Premier
Calendar Series in North Wales. This involved a 2
day 3 stage race, the opening stage being a 1.6km
time trial which has proved to be crucial in recent
years for determining the overall general classification.
The team resplendent in their new Impsport designed
team kit with matching Giro helmet, consisted of Ian
Wilkinson, Dave Collins, Richard Kent and new signing
Richard Wilkinson. This was the first outing for the
team on their newly issued Trek Madones with Bontrager
XXX carbon tubular wheels shed with Schwalbe Stelvio
tubular tyres and Bontrager finishing kit.

Science in Sport-Trek End the 2007/08 Cyclo Cross Season
In Fine Form
At the recent British Cyclo
Cross National Championships Ian Bibby successfully
defended his Under 23 title. In what was the most exciting
race of the weekend Ian outsprinted Ian Field to win
the title for the second year running. Having only done
two cross races prior to the Championships Ian has not
specifically targeted cross this season. He came 4th
at a round of the National Trophy in December at Bradford
after having started at the back of the grid and over
the Christmas break he came 2nd by a tyres width to
Liam Killeen at the Macclesfield Supacross. Although
he had only done these two races he knew that he had
the form to take the win in the National Championships.

Science in Sport-Trek Rider Dave Collins Starts his
Cyclo Cross Season
The Road and MTB season
has only just finished and the Science in Sport –
Trek team are now into the early stages of the cyclo-cross
season. With Ian Wilkinson, Ian Bibby and National
Champion Phil Dixon having to delay their start to
the cross season due to the need
to chase UCI points for the GB MTB team, it was left
to Dave Collins to be our only representative at the
recent 1st Round of the National Trophy Series at
Abergavenny on the 7th October 2007.

Scienceinsport-Trek Riders Dominate Morecambe 2 Day
Stage Race
With Team Leader Ian Wilkinson
away on MTB Duty at Fort William a team of four riders
including Dave Collins, Richard Kent, Matt Cronshaw
& Tim Lawson entered the Morecambe 2 Day Stage
race which was held on the weekend of the 19/20th
May. The race consisted of 4 stages which included
an opening Prologue time trial, a road race and a
criterium on Saturday and a final road race on Sunday.

Successful End to
April for ScienceinSport-Trek
The ScienceinSport-Trek team ended April on a high with
Ian Wilkinson coming second in the East Midlands International
CiCLE Classic on the 29th April 2007. Although Ian has
only competed in four of the five rounds, this 2nd place
combined with his 3rd place in Round 1 and 1st place
in Round 3 puts him in the overall lead in the Premier
Calendar Series..

Tim Suffers Broken Pelvis and Fractured Sacrum.
During a recent Training Camp in Mallorca
Tim Lawson suffered a fall when he lost his front
wheel on an unexpected wet patch on the notorious
Soller descent.

Adam Blythe triumphant again in Belgium
Following on from
his win in the Belgian Classic, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne,
Adam Blythe made a successful return to Belgium over
the weekend of the 31st March & 1st April 2007
by winning at Waarschoot on Saturday and taking 2nd
place at Zoutleeuw on Sunday.

Phil Dixon Wins National Cyclo-Cross Trophy
"With just a few laps remaining the battle was
down to two men, Dixon and seasoned campaigner Nick
Craig. Despite a few digs Craig could not lose the
determined Dixon and the final run to the line was
a frantic sprint, where Dixon took the win."
